Synesthesia

In sixth grade, whenever Mrs. Andersen said "packet," I would taste tomato at the back of my mouth. These days, whenever I'm sitting in Teach for America training, I taste play-doh, or rather, what I think play-doh might taste like, while the lecturer is speaking. Why you ask? I don't know.

You know--quite a bit of research is being done these days on synestheia. You may want to have a look at the book, "Blue Cats and Chartreuse Kittens: How Synesthetes Color their Worlds" (Henry Holt & Company 2001) which tells of many different types of synesthesia.
